Classic Mixed Age
This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth through age five through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchersgrouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregiversparents, grandparents, nannycan bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.
- Four Music Together® sessions per year: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.
- Attend a fun-filled 45 minute class each week.
- Enjoy a structured format that includes the "Hello Song," small and large singing and movement activities, instrumental jam sessions, a quiet lullaby, and the "Goodbye Song" in each class.
- Learn through PLAY! Take advantage of freedom within the class structure for adults and children alike to explore their creativity. Try exciting new activities each week in class. Experience songs in fresh ways each week.
- Enrich and extend classroom musical play through use of the songbook and CDs. The songs experienced in class are included in take-home family materials each session. There are nine main Music Together® curriculum sets to rotate over a three year period, two special collections for babies, and three summer compilations.
- Become an integral part of the process. The 6-12 families who form each class become a close group, working together to provide the very best musical environment for their children.
Watch as children soak up the musical information then share their delight as they start to become music-makers at home and with the group!

Big Kids Family Music®
Big Kids Family Music® is a 60-minute class geared to the interests and social nature of children ages five and six. (To attend the Big Kids Family Music® class, your child must be five years of age by the start of the semester you wish to attend.) Families still play an important part in this class, although the adults and children may have different musical roles. Game songs, folk dances, jam sessions, dramatic play, and more structured work in rhythm and tonality will be included. The class uses materials from the current Music Together® song collection along with materials created specifically for older children. Learn how to support your child musically as he or she develops more advanced skills in singing, dancing, playing instruments, and creative improvisation. Please note: Younger siblings are not developmentally ready for the structure of Big Kids Family Music® classes. Therefore, except for babies eight months and younger by the first day of class, only children ages 5Ð8 and their adults may attend these classes.
Each teacher's Big Kids Family Music class is unique: in Stafford, we are proud to offer Big Kids Family Music with an emphasis on Keyboard Explorations with certified teacher Nancy Anderson. A new dimension is explored as we experience all the joy of the current Music Together® songbook and CDs. Movement and singing are still a major focus and pattern development expands to the next level. In every class we explore on our set of keyboards. We learn new songs and make up our own songs. We play ostinato accompaniments to our Music Together® songs. We play solos for each other. Come and get a great start on keyboard in an organic, fluid transition between using our bodies to sing and move musically and discovering ways that we can make music on the keyboard, too! Big Kids Family Music with Keyboard Exploration classes are for ages 5-8 and an attending parent.

Music Together Special Needs
All children are musical! Music triggers growth processes, social interactions, and brain function. Through guided musical experiences the connection to music is unlocked and the child begins to interact with the environment, people, and things around them. Little steps translate into big victories! Imagine a child who has never done so before trying to copy an adult, imitating holding and making unique sounds with shakers, sticks, and xylophones for the very first time! Music reaches through and communicates with children in ways that language sometimes cannot.
"I've been wanting to share with you the amazing developmental growth spurt that Sam has had since starting music classes in September. He has mastered 4 of his IEP goals in the past week! These music classes have awakened something inside of him - they are connecting pathways that we have not been able to reach any other way. Thank you, thank you, for seeing the needs of these kids and responding. We are going to continue coming to your special needs classes until he gets so old that you throw us out!" --Mrs. Ollie Green, mommy to Sam in Nancy's Special Needs class
Join us for a unique, uplifting Music Together® experience in our Special Needs classes. Families with multiple children are encouraged to bring siblings to class as well, increasing the natural family feel of our learning environment. Special Needs classes are generally for children ages birth-9 years. Please contact us if you'd like more information.

Babies Classes
Every child's development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together® offers two options for babies. Babies eight months and younger at the time of registration may attend a Mixed Ages Class, whether registered on their own or attending free with an older brother or sister. Babies may also take the special "Babies Class" offered as a one-semester introduction to Music Together®. (This class cannot be repeated.) The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in babies. Meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby.

Preschool
Weekly Music Together® Preschool classes are 30-to-45 minutes long and include an artistically conceived flow of songs, nursery rhymes, instrumental jam sessions, fingerplays, and movement activities. The combination and types of activities are research-based and support children's developing competence in tonality and rhythm. In addition, activities evolve from the child's world and include vocal play, animal sounds, rhythm play, language play, and a good bit of genuine, silly fun. Classes are taught by a registered Music Together® teacher who is trained in music development and skilled in leading participatory music activity. Children "bring the music home" to their parents through the family CD and songbook. Please visit the Music Together® Preschool section of the national website for more information on this program.
